Togo's Story - inconsistencies...?
Yeah, I know these are near pointless to bring up >.> Still...
First thing I noticed that doesn't make sense. Gull Hookbeak, when you see him in the main Factions campaign... well, yeah, there is something odd about a high-rank having to prove himself, but the most bizarre thing is that the model appears to have been changed. I can't imagine ArenaNet borrowing a character from elsewhere in the plot and not noticing this, so I wonder what gives?
The Rite of Valor can be explained in numerous ways... perhaps he was somehow dishonored... so that's not an issue.
Now the second odd point. From what I recall, Talon was supposed to have been beaten by Headmaster Zhan and thus served with him ever since. Uhm... how exactly does this work with the BMP? If that happened after the BMP mission took place, one would question what he was doing fighting in the first place, when that event was supposed to lead directly into peace accords. If it happened before, one would then wonder why he was threatening Togo if he was supposed to serve one of Togo's subordinates.
Is there a reasonable answer, or do I have to write it off as an oversight/continuity error on ArenaNet's part?

Not so sure what you're referring to about Headmaster Zhan...but is it at all possible that he was beaten in a duel after Togo gained the respect of the tengu? He didn't pledge to serve any humans in Togo's story...togo just earned his respect.
There are friendly duels, duels between just two people who don't like each other, or duels initiated due to an individual assault on one's honor, and may or may not result in or be influenced by relations between two factions.
What I don't get is the second "master"..the spirit spammer. Same dude from Nahpui quarter. Dead in the story, but come back as the oracle? Is the oracle just a spirit in human form then?

LOL!
It also appears that Warmaster Wona is a Kurzick and not a Canthan.
That's interesting isn't it?

What I find odd is that Talon is lvl 20 in the BMP (past) and lvl 16 in Shing Jea (present).

He's also lvl 20 on the mainland, just like Lukas is lvl 3 in shing jea monastery and eventually reaches lvl 20 once you get to HzH. That has nothing to do with continuity, just henchmen level progression to match the players.

There's a big different between progressing upwards and progressing downwards. His going up in level from island to mainland shows he gained experience fighting the afflicted on Shing Jea. But what would cause Talon to lose four levels in the span of twenty or so years?

To be honest, I found it really stupid that Togo's entire power seems to come from rage, and that his three special spirits are Anger, Suffering and Hate. Togo seemed like an Obi-Wan Kenobi type of person in the Factions campaign, and it just really doesn't make sense to me how he could've gotten from rolling noobs with Dragon Empire Rage to being a philosopher who spams Recuperation.

He's prob just out of shape from standing around in the monastery for 20 years waiting for Factions to start. I'm sure that would cause anyone to lose their edge.

Don't drop the Simpson-Bomb on guru, people don't know about anything that's older than 1-2 years.
And maybe Talon lost so many levels because he got lost in a D20 desert, got killed few times by the Dungeon Master for using Power Attack in his youth.

Because his "Rage" killing spree is so powerful,, it made him regret his action and he retire to the monastery to become headmaster and at the same time serve as the "secret protector of his brother kisu" and it could also be because of his "Rage" that he did not become the emperor and instead the "man behind the scene" and it could also explain why he was not "associated" much with the Emperor because it not very wise for an emperor to have a half brother who's "rage" kill people.
in my humble opinion.

Remember the timeline, though. Togo's mission takes place a number of years before we get involved in Factions.
And think of Talon's Level variations as being "in a new environment" where what he knew before had to be "adapted" to the new area. (OK, it's a reach, but <shrug> )

Level variations are quite widespread, so I'm not really concerned about them. Notice how Argo suddenly sucks just because he becomes a henchman.

They just re-used The Oracle's skin, nothing new there.

When Togo learned that in factions he was to be relegated to status lower than that of a henchman he said ---- that! and abandoned his most devastating powers in disgust.
Talon started slacking in the time of peace, spending his time drinking and chasing after Tengu chicks, hence the level degradation.

Training human students made him soft. Only after fighting the Afflicted did he regain his strength, simple enough.
